EU Air Handlers Selected for their Ease of Installation 

Following-on from an IKEA contract in south Norway, Fläkt Woods is pleased to be supplying the air handling requirements for the refurbishment of an IKEA store in Väla, one of Sweden's largest shopping malls.

Väla is located a couple of miles from Helsingborg, the centre of IKEA’s Swedish operations. The shopping centre was established in 1974 and is undergoing a major renovation and extension, resulting in a complete transformation of the shopping facility.

IKEA's new store will be twice as large as the old store and Fläkt Woods has been asked to supply air handling units to Bravida, the contractor responsible for the installation of 10 EU units, to meet the indoor air quality demands of the new store. "Bravida recommended that IKEA chose our units," says Per Jarnestad at Fläkt Woods. "Capacity-wise, there are equivalent units from other suppliers, but according to Bravida we got the order because our units are very easy to install compared to others and our instructions for installation and maintenance are much easier to work with", he concludes.

The EU air handlers feature high efficiency fans equipped with airflow measurement devices. Units include run-around coil recovery systems, heating, integrated local cooling and integrated local controls with connection to a BMS system of the new store.

The EU range provides all needed functionality and a high degree of flexibility. HVAC for new large retail centres is a complex mixture of requirements. A critical factor in specific areas is comfort cooling with as little air movement as possible, a high degree of energy efficiency and low draught displacement.

Assisting companies in the retail sector requires a specialist approach from the service provider, as a malfunction of a centre’s building services could prove to be very costly for the retailer, so it is important that the products provided meet the precise requirements of the customer.
